.. The knees are knocking
The gateman for the magenta magnate had his nametag backwards.
I’m out of the Woodingdean Hilton now and hobbling around with a shifty glint in my eyes waiting for the next victims. Thanks for all the kind wishes from you all and sorry to John G the webmaster who came to collect me with the expectation that I would be in pain and suffering from the effects of anaesthetics that he’d chalk up some easy victories. No such luck…I still know where the heavy tiles are.
I’ve spent today finishing the mountain of scoresheets I started ages ago. It seems ages ago because after 5 mins of sitting I tend to leap up and look for a wall to beat my head against.
Some continual themes to report. Jim starts a game with a 76 bonus and scores 296 and loses. Ann doesn’t challenge teasets off the board. Amanda plays shrooms on the 31st. And Teresa denies Mary a solitary victory on the night by bonusing last go and getting a 26 point swing to win by one. So you can see I do take notice of your efforts.
Far be it for me to highlight little idiosyncracies of scrabblistic etiquette (the singing of Margaret, the gentle purring of George announcing he’s going to set you up) but on two occasions during the course of the scoresheet fest I found two instances of two sets of players having 9 consecutive games. How locked horns is that> roll on the handicap tournament if only to witness the camera worthy attraction of players actually having to get up and leave their seats.
I discovered the axolotl@madasafish.com address I use now comes directly to my mail and not via that disgusting Entourage thing Microsoft included in the package I bought. Anyone using this can now expect a reply (normally within a day).
You can’t play catflaps but it’s a fantastic way of remembering all the front hooks to EAZE and EASE. With Ease there’s an m also in case you’re worried about using two esses. The playable anag of catflaps is flatcaps (for next time).
The honourable mention this edition goes to Veritas with Antique 124 and Escapes 105 (presumably no connection). Jim had his Prayers 122 and was still Touchier 101 and Amanda was Quashed 100.
The word I liked most was Burrito by Ann.
I have given up on the brainteasers due to the understandable nil entries in 6 months. Anyone who believes we are connected is a fool (especially E.M. Deforester) and all I ask is that someone provide me with proof of an existence, however delayed. So how about the best backwards set of words. Doesn’t have to be the longest but the most emphatic.
All gid washes.
